Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a holistic approach to health, emphasizing the connection between physiological, structural, psychological, social, spiritual and lifestyle factors affecting health. We understand disease as a process rather than as an entity. Treatments are chosen based on you as an individual, not based on your symptoms. This approach has proven successful in treating both chronic and acute conditions.

Naturopathy is different from conventional medicine in the philosophy upon which it is based. Most of today’s modern pharmaceuticals are designed to control symptoms. For example, blood pressure medication for high blood pressure. These medications are valuable and can save lives, and serve a very important purpose. However, they stop short of providing a complete solution because ultimately they do not address the underlying problem. While the blood pressure may be controlled with medication, the root cause of the high blood pressure has not been addressed. When symptoms are covered up with medication the disorder still exists and, over time, will cause other symptoms in the body to develop. Symptoms are the body’s warning sign that something is not right. If you treat the symptom and not the cause you’re ignoring your body’s call for help. If you stop the drug and your symptom returns you have not addressed the cause.

We endeavor to take your health further than symptom management. However, we may provide symptom relief as well in order to ensure that you are safe and comfortable while you work to achieve greater health. Our practitioners may use any of the following modalities to treat any number of health complaints: nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, body work, acupuncture and lifestyle modifications.

We use natural methods and substances to support and stimulate the body's self-healing process. We provide a complete, individualized and coordinated approach to health care integrating modern advances in knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. Naturopathic medicine is the art and science of disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention using natural therapies.
